The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission confirmed it has not approved bitcoin ETF applications – contradicting its X (formerly Twitter) account briefly saying otherwise.
“The SEC’s @SECGov X/Twitter account has been compromised,” a spokesperson said in a statement to CoinDesk. “The unauthorized tweet regarding bitcoin ETFs was not made by the SEC or its staff.”

A new malware variant has been uncovered targeting Apple’s macOS devices, experts have warned.

 A report from Greg Lesnewich, Senior Threat Researcher at Proofpoint, who described the malware in more detail in a technical writeup here, notes the malware is called SpectralBlur, and is a “moderately capable” piece of code. It can upload, download, or delete files, run shell commands, and sleep and hibernate, he further explained.

Machine learning systems are vulnerable to cyberattacks that could allow hackers to evade security and prompt data leaks, scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology warned. There is “no foolproof defense” against some of these attacks, researchers said.
